Las Palmas. Born to Catalan parents, Xano Armenter grew up in Balaguer (Lleida) and Vigo (Pontevedra). Studied graphic design and art at the Escola Eina in Barcelona (1973-1980); landed in 1980 in New York’s East Village. Worked with Milton Glaser (1981-1984); held exhibitions in various locations in Lower Manhattan (such as the legendary Limbo Lounge, after which his carpet was named). Influenced by both graffiti and a renewed figurative style, his painting developed an e xpressive urban style scored by a deep black drawing line, blending expressive sensitivity with the contemplative beauty of design. He presently lives and works in New York and Barcelona.
