The space that has been chosen provides a unique way of seeing the whole context of the brand, with a comprehensive exhibition of its rugs and textile accessories and all kinds of unique items. The store is peppered with a carefully selected range of exclusive articles from several different countries – little treasures each with their own special charm, which the designer and her team have discovered on their travels around Asia, Africa and South America. These hand-crafted objects from faraway worlds make up the themes for the nanimarquina collections: baskets, fabrics, teacups, blankets, cushions or teapots that have provided the starting point and the inspiration for the brand’s designs.

llibre-tempus

Index Book just published the volume Tempus Fugit, a book that brings together the best designs of calendars worldwide and aims to provide tools for reflection to all students and designers who have to face the challenge of designing a calendar.

In the book (beautifully designed by Bildi Grafiks and with an introduction by Robert Appleton on the sound and design in real time) are more than 60 calendars and over 50 reflections of designers. Among them the 12 most paradigmatic cases, in both formal and conceptual aspect, created by conceptual design personalities like George Tscherny, Paula Scher, John Maeda, Kit Hinrichs, Massimo Vignelli and Ahn Sang Soo, among others.

Nani Marquina is one of the designers interviewed in the introduction of the book, that talk about the time and its course. We would particularly like to highlight this sentence: “Time is the best standard for measuring the quality of an idea.”

onu barceloWe had the honour of taking part in the refurbishment of the Human Rights and Alliance of Civilisations Room at the United Nations Office in Geneva. Under the giant dome painted by the Majorcan artist Miquel Barceló, 600 m2 of nanimarquina rugs made from 100% New Zealand wool cover the walls of the room, providing soundproofing and a feeling of warmth.

The project began in July 2007 after a commission from the artist himself and from the architect Toni Esteva. The rugs were officially presented in November.

It has been an honour to design and make 80 hand-tied traditional rugs, custom-made for this very significant project.
